Survival Garden Seeds offers a mix of coleus seeds for sale, with many color and pattern combinations. Our non-GMO seeds are selected to have top germination rates and the ability to produce lush, vivid foliage.
Coleus seeds and plants originated in tropical regions of Southeast Asia and Africa. Due to their colorful leaves, they are a favorite among gardeners and indoor plant lovers. Because their foliage is so striking, coleus plants aren’t grown for their tiny flowers, though they do provide a sweet fragrance. These plants can be grown as perennials in USDA hardiness zones 10 to 11, or as annuals in cooler areas.
Sow seeds indoors, about 8 to 10 weeks before the last expected frost. In warmer climates, coleus seeds can be planted directly outside. Seeds need light to germinate, so press them onto the soil surface and do not cover them. Maintain soil moisture, providing light and warmth. Coleus seeds will germinate typically within 2 weeks. When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them to their final location, ensuring space for growth.
Coleus plants love moist soil and partial shade. Many varieties can tolerate sunnier locations. Regular watering and nutrient-rich soil help maintain the vibrant leaves, while also providing healthy growth. Pinching back the tips will result in bushier growth. Coleus is generally resistant to pests. If grown indoors, however, it should be monitored for houseplant pests.
Survival Garden Seeds' coleus mix is the right place to start if you want to add some color and life to areas of your yard that don’t receive full sun. Planting coleus seeds is a joy from start to finish and will provide you with much joy with the addition of these beautiful plants to your yard.
