Survival Garden Seeds offers high-quality oregano seeds for planting, perfect for adding this beloved aromatic herb to your outdoor space. Our non-GMO seeds are carefully selected for their excellent germination rates, growing into potent, flavorful plants that will thrive in your garden.
Oregano is known around the world and is a key herb in Italian, Greek, Spanish, and Mexican kitchens. Valued for its flavorful leaves, it also has a great reputation for its medicinal properties. Oregano is a perennial in USDA hardiness zones 5 to 13 and can be grown as an annual in colder regions. Its ability to withstand dry conditions makes it excellent for low-water gardens.
Start by sowing the seeds indoors on the surface of the soil as they need light to germinate. Keep the soil evenly moist until germination, which typically occurs within a week or two. Transplant the seedlings outdoors when the weather is stable and warm. Space plants 1 ½ to 2 feet apart in a sunny spot in the garden, giving this vigorous plant plenty of room to bush out and spread.
Oregano is low maintenance, requiring minimal care once it has rooted, and tolerates drought well. It prefers direct sun and well-drained soil. Regular trimming results in bushy growth and prevents the plant from becoming woody. Harvest oregano leaves as needed, preferably in the morning—when the aromatic oil content is highest. Drying the leaves can intensify the flavor.
Grab the opportunity to grow a beloved herb! With Survival Garden Seeds' oregano seeds, you can have a versatile, beneficial plant in your own space. You’ll love having this fresh, home-grown herb on hand anytime you need it.
