What Makes Survival Garden Seeds Different - non-GMO heirloom seeds

Build a productive, pantry-focused garden with the Dry Bean Seeds Collection. This 5-variety heirloom mix is designed for growers who want more than fresh snacking crops. These protein-rich legumes can be harvested young as shell beans or allowed to fully mature and dry for long-term storage.

The collection includes Pinto (Phaseolus vulgaris), Fordhook Lima and Jackson Wonder Lima (Phaseolus lunatus), Black-Eyed Pea (Vigna unguiculata), and Chiba Green Soybean (Glycine max). Each variety offers distinct flavor, texture, and kitchen versatility—so you can grow hearty pintos, creamy limas, classic black-eyed peas, and soybeans suited for edamame-style shelling or dry bean storage.

Productive, Practical, and Pantry-Ready:

• 5 heirloom dry bean varieties selected for shelling and drying
• Suitable for fresh shell beans or fully mature dry beans
• High-protein legumes ideal for food storage and self-reliance gardens

Why Customers Love Dry Bean Seeds Collection:

• Provides calorie-dense, shelf-stable garden staples
• Multiple species for broader adaptability and culinary variety
• Ideal for succession planting and summer production
• Supports long-term pantry storage planning
• Reliable performers chosen for usefulness over novelty

How to Grow:

Plant after your last frost once soil temperatures are consistently warm. Choose a full sun location with well-drained soil. Provide steady moisture during germination and early growth. Depending on the variety, allow room for bush or vining growth habits. Maintain consistent watering through flowering and pod set.

For shell beans, harvest when pods are filled but still tender. For dry beans, allow pods to mature and dry on the plant as long as weather permits. Harvest mature pods, shell the beans, and finish drying indoors in a well-ventilated area until beans are fully hard.

Harvest & Storage:

Once completely dry, store beans in airtight containers in a cool, dry place. Properly dried beans can remain viable for long-term pantry storage and are excellent for soups, stews, beans and rice, refried beans, succotash, and traditional Southern dishes.

This collection supports a practical garden strategy: grow legumes through summer, enjoy some fresh, and dry the rest to build a dependable, homegrown protein source for the months ahead.
