Mallow (Swamp Hibiscus) Seeds

Mallow seeds germinate into charming perennial wildflowers. They bloom into vibrant flowers, most often pink. Mallows are most suited for garden places with full sunlight to partial shade and grow best in fertile soil. Although they are adaptable to different conditions, they prefer well-drained soil. These are resilient plants, grown for their ornamental beauty and attractiveness to butterflies and hummingbirds as well as their medicinal uses.

Survival Garden Seeds offers heirloom mallows, including US native Rose Mallow seeds and Marsh Mallow seeds. Our non-GMO seeds are chosen for their robust growth and ability to produce an abundance of beautiful, long-lasting blooms.

PLANTING MALLOW SEEDS

For successful growth of these pretty flowers, sow their seeds directly in the garden. It can be done in spring or autumn. Mallow seeds require light to germinate, so press them firmly into the soil without covering them. Ensure the planting area gets plenty of sunlight. Germination will start within 2 to 3 weeks at the appropriate temperature.

MAINTAINING MALLOW PLANTS

Once established, mallow plants don’t demand much upkeep. They are drought tolerant but prefer moist soil. Regular watering during longer droughts will help in continuous blooming. Remove the dry flowers to encourage more blossoms and to prevent too much self-seeding.
