Anise Seed - Medicinal & Culinary Herb
Survival Garden Seeds offers high-quality anise seeds. Our heirloom seeds are selected for their strong germination rates and productivity. Enjoy this sweetly aromatic herb, from planting to harvest.
Anise, originating in the Mediterranean region, has a history dating back to ancient civilizations. Its seeds are famous for their distinctive sweet, licorice flavor used in various global cuisines. Anise plants grow in USDA hardiness zones 4 through 13, preferring warm weather for growth and seed production. Anise seeds’ benefits include digestive and soothing medicinal properties.
Find a sunny location and sow seeds directly in the garden after the last frost when the soil has warmed. Plant seeds at a depth of about 1/4 inch, spacing them 10-12 inches apart. The direct sunlight brings out their full aromatic potential. Anise prefers well-drained soil and moderate watering. Avoid overly wet conditions that can hinder its growth.
Once it is established, anise requires little care. Thriving in warm and sunny garden spots, it prefers regular watering during dry periods for healthy growth. Anise loves rich, well-draining soil. The plant may need staking as it grows taller, particularly in areas with strong winds. Harvest anise seeds when the flower heads turn brown when the seeds are mature. Allow the plants to self-seed naturally, or dry the cut heads upside down in a well-ventilated area to save for next year’s garden.
Grow a plant that is both beautiful and useful! Survival Garden Seeds’ anise seeds offer the enjoyment of its dual benefits. Adding a fragrant dimension to gardens and offering a sweet, aromatic flavor to culinary creations makes it a delightful addition to your herb garden.
