INTRODUCING FORGET ME NOT SEEDS
Chinese Forget Me Not (Cynoglossum amabile) should not be confused with the invasive Myosotis sylvatica. It is a perfect choice for USDA hardiness zones 3 to 9. Typically reaching heights of 2 feet, these flowers spread out, forming a dense mat of foliage. Forget Me Nots are recognized for their clusters of five-petaled flowers that create a stunning display in any garden setting.
PLANTING FORGET ME NOT SEEDS
Sow the seeds directly outside, as soon as soil is workable. Alternatively, they can be started inside 3 to 4 weeks ahead of time, and transplanted after the last frost dates. Completely cover seeds with soil. Darkness is needed for the seeds to germinate. Transplant or thin out the Forget Me Not seedlings in a sunny location. Make sure they are about 10 inches apart, as they will spread out when the plant grows.
MAINTAINING FORGET ME NOT PLANTS
Forget Me Nots will need regular watering. Other than that, they are very easy to maintain. The soil should be consistently moist. To encourage more blooms, remove spent flowers from the plant. This will also stop the self-seeding process. You may save the seeds when seed heads turn brown. Collect them in a bag and dry them for a couple of weeks. Then, remove seeds from outer pods. They can be stored in a dark, dry place for up to 3 years.
Every garden needs a little bit of that cottage glamour. With Forget Me Nots, you will have it. They are delicate beauties with charm. Perfect for creating stunning garden borders, or filling wildflower meadows. Enjoy the sentimental value of Forget Me Nots in your garden!
