INTRODUCING LETTUCE MICROGREENS SEEDS

Lettuce microgreens are young seedlings of a lettuce plant. They are ideal due to their nutrition and fast growth cycle, becoming ready for harvest after the first true leaves grow. These microgreens hold a concentrated source of vitamins and necessary minerals. Growing them is simple, provide good light and continue misting until they grow.

PLANTING LETTUCE MICROGREENS SEEDS

Sprinkle lettuce microgreens seeds thickly over 1/2-1 inch of moist potting mix. Use a well-draining shallow container, about 5 inches by 5 inches in size. Press the seeds in firmly. Mist with water and cover the container to retain moisture and block out the light. Place the container inside a cupboard or other dark space. Keep covered in darkness for 2-4 days. Mist when needed to retain the moisture. After a few inches of growth, or when microgreens begin lifting the cover, expose them to direct light. Harvest with scissors in 8-14 days.

MAINTAINING LETTUCE MICROGREENS

Lettuce microgreens will grow quickly. Mist them regularly from planting to harvest for best growth, and give them plenty of light via grow lights or by placing them on a windowsill. Start harvesting your microgreens when they reach about 2 to 3 inches in height, cutting just above the soil. Use them fresh to savor their taste and for best nutrient potency.

Growing lettuce microgreen seeds will be efficient and fast. They will reward you with a healthy, crispy taste and allow you to enjoy a quick harvest.

How to Grow Microgreens

The general process of growing microgreens is fairly simple. The steps are as follows:

  1. Pre-soak seeds as specified on the packet
  2. Sprinkle seeds over a tray with a 1/2" to 1" layer of moist potting mix. Press into the soil to ensure good contact.
  3. Mist seeds with a spray bottle and cover to maintain moisture and block out light.
  4. Keep seeds covered for the blackout period. Setting the tray inside a cupboard works well. Check seeds during the blackout period and mist as needed to keep seeds moist.
  5. When the microgreens are a few inches tall or begin to live the cover, expose
them to light, allowing the seedlings to develop and grow.
  6. When microgreens look ready, harvest with a pair of scissors and enjoy!
