  • Lemon Cucumber: A distinctive round, lemon-yellow cucumber with a sweet, mild taste. Highly productive and more tolerant of cooler weather than many varieties.
  • National Pickling Cucumber: A classic pickling cucumber with thin skin that absorbs brine and flavor exceptionally well. Harvest small for gherkins or larger for traditional pickles.
  • Spacemaster Cucumber: Ideal for patios and compact gardens. Short 2–3 foot vines produce generous yields of crisp, dark green fruits perfect for fresh eating.

Why Customers Love the Cucumber Seed Collection:

  • Includes five distinct cucumbers for slicing, pickling, and snacking
  • Offers both compact and vining varieties for flexible garden planning
  • Suitable for raised beds, containers, and traditional garden plots

How to Grow:
Plant seeds in full sun after the danger of frost has passed and soil has warmed. Provide rich, well-drained soil and consistent moisture for optimal production. Vining types benefit from trellising, while compact varieties like Spacemaster excel in containers. Harvest frequently to encourage ongoing fruit development. For pickling cucumbers, pick when small and firm; for slicers, harvest when fruits reach their recommended size.

Cucumber Collection - 5 cucumber varieties to grow in your garden

5 Unique Cucumbers

Each of these cucumber varieties has a slightly different flavor profile and look.

  • Armenian Pale Green's fruits have a melon scent and sweet, fresh taste that's never bitter. Thin skin is easily digested and does not need to be peeled.
  • An excellent slicing cucumber. Beit Alpha is especially flavorful and pleasant when harvested at 8" or smaller..
  • Lemon cucumber's mild and sweet flavor has none of the typical cucumber bitterness. Its flavor and unusual appearance make it a perfect slicing cucumber.
  • National Pickling cucumber has a thin skin that absorbs flavors well.
  • Spacemaster Cucumber is perfect for patios and small garden spaces. Its short 2-3' vines are compact but produce a good yield of tasty vegetables.

Warm Weather Crop

Cucumbers thrive in warm weather, so they are typically planted in the spring after the last frost date in your area.

If you choose to start seeds indoors, it's best to start them about 3-4 weeks before the last frost date in your area.

When planting cucumber seeds in the garden, choose a site that receives full sun and has well-draining soil.

Plant the seeds about 1 inch deep and 6 inches apart in rows that are spaced about 3 feet apart. You can also plant them in hills, which are mounds of soil that are about 12 inches in diameter and 3-4 feet apart.

Plant 3-4 seeds per hill and thin to the strongest seedling once they have germinated. To help with germination, you can soak cucumber seeds in water for a few hours before planting. Provide support for the vines as they grow.
