3 varieties of full sun vegetable seeds to sow in your home garden. Although Swiss Chard is a biennial, it is often grown as an annual and the whole leaves are harvested at any stage of growth as a salad green or to add to a variety of foods. Succession planting will allow a perpetual harvest of these tender vegetables. These plants grow well in indoor container and hydroponic gardening systems as well as in traditional in-ground gardens outdoors.
- Fordhook Swiss Chard - Fordhook is the classic Swiss Chard variety, with dark green leaves on tender white stalks. It is delicious when harvested at baby stage as a salad green as well as when when fully mature as a cooked vegetable. This versatile heirloom produces well from spring until winter. It is often used as poultry feed.
- Rainbow Swiss Chard -Rainbow Swiss Chard has dark green leaves with an assortment of green, white, magenta, and yellow stalks to add some color to the kitchen table and the garden. The variety of chards all have familiar beet flavor. This mix will perform well spring, summer, and fall, even standing up to hot weather.
- Ruby Red Rhubard Swiss Chard - This beautiful Swiss Chard variety has brilliant red stems contrasting with dark green leaves that reach up to 2 feet tall. Harvest it at baby stage as a salad green and also steamed or sauteed. This cultivar grows best in cooler weather, being more frost tolerant than other varieties.

No, we do not pre-treat our farmer seeds. All of our garden seeds for sale are untreated, open-pollinated, non-GMO, and heirloom varieties. They are kept in temperature-controlled cooler storage until they are packed and shipped to keep them pest and disease-free.

The seeds in our collections are specifically chosen from varieties that can be successfully grown from Zone 3 to Zone 10 USDA Hardiness Zones. Our seeds will generally last for 3-10 years if they are appropriately stored in a cool, dry place. However, we encourage you to grow your survival seeds within a year or two of purchase. This yields the best germination rates possible and also gives you more experience growing survival food now. At the end of the growing season, follow the instructions on the back of each packet for saving seeds for future gardens. These new seeds for survival will be more adapted to thrive in the growing conditions where you are.
