Grow your own Victoria rhubarb plants with these open-pollinated seeds. Victoria Rhubarb is a reliable heirloom perennial that is easy to grow, productive, and long-lived. It can be grown in USDA zones 3-8, but does not fare well in hot weather. Plants can become stressed if temperature is above 75°F for a prolonged time. In colder weather regions, it can live for 10-15+ years. The sweet, tender stalks are a deep crimson red color, and the plant can grow to an impressive 30-36" tall. The leaves are poisonous, so caution is required with small children and pets.
For long-term storage, rhubarb can be frozen, freeze-dried, canned, or processed into jellies, jams, or pie filling. It’s an excellent choice for pairing with other sweet fruits, especially strawberries.

- Tips for Growing Rhubarb Seeds - For best results, soak seeds for 2-3 hours to soften the hard outer shell or nick coat. For spring sowing or warmer climates, we also recommend cold stratification to further improve germination rates. Refrigerate seeds in a damp paper towel inside a plastic bag for 4-6 weeks before planting. Carefully transplant seedlings in a sunny spot with well-draining, rich soil. Harvest in the second year or later.
