Known for its unique, bitter flavor that's often found in candies and cough drops, its leaves are traditionally used for their soothing properties. Horehound is a time-honored, easy to grow herb that adds to the homestead medicine cabinet and to the pantry. Moreover, this deer-resistant herb is an excellent choice for gardens in areas with a high deer population.

The easy to grow plant grows 2-3 feet tall and wide, with gray-green leaves covered with fine hair (hoar), and small pink, lavender, or white flowers.
  • Versatile and Beneficial - Horehound's fresh leaves have a strong aroma keeps deer at bay and attracts beneficial pollinators, but they are not good to eat or use in cooking until dried.
