What Makes Survival Garden Seeds Different - non-GMO heirloom seeds

Bring tropical brilliance and pollinator activity to your garden with Mexican Sunflower Seeds (Tithonia rotundifolia), an heirloom non-GMO favorite native to Mexico. These tall, bushy plants grow up to 6 feet high, producing a multitude of vibrant orange-red blooms that attract butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds from midsummer through frost.

Brilliant Blooms, Easy Growth, and Ecological Benefits:

  • Produces abundant daisy-like flowers with fiery orange petals and golden centers.
  • Grows into large, branching 5–6 ft plants that fill garden borders or create a bold backdrop.
  • Improves soil fertility by building organic matter and attracting beneficial insects.
  • A top nectar source for Mexican monarch butterflies and native pollinators.

Why Gardeners Love Mexican Sunflowers:

  • Pop of Color – Adds dramatic, long-lasting orange blooms to beds, borders, and wildflower gardens.
  • Pollinator Magnet – Nectar-rich flowers draw monarchs, bees, and hummingbirds.
  • Low Maintenance & Drought Tolerant – Thrives in hot, sunny locations and poor soils once established.
  • Cut Flower Favorite – Strong stems and long-lasting blooms make stunning summer bouquets.
  • Fast-Growing & Rewarding – Easy for beginners, with blooms lasting until the first frost.

How to Grow Mexican Sunflowers:

  • When to Plant: Sow directly outdoors after the last frost, or start indoors 4–6 weeks early.
  • Soil & Sun: Prefers full sun and well-drained soil; tolerates lean or sandy soil.
  • Spacing: Allow 18–24 inches between plants for bushy growth.
  • Watering: Water moderately; once established, plants tolerate dry conditions.
  • Bloom & Maturity: Expect flowers in 70–100 days, continuing through fall.

Harvest & Use:
Perfect for wildlife gardens, cut flower arrangements, or seasonal backdrops, Mexican Sunflowers offer brilliant color and vital nectar for pollinators. Let some flowers go to seed at season’s end to attract birds and encourage self-seeding for next year’s blooms
