Warm Weather Crop

In general, sweet peppers are warm-weather crops that need to be planted after the danger of frost has passed and the soil has warmed up.

The best method to plant sweet pepper seeds is to start them indoors about 8-10 weeks before the last frost date in your area.

Once the seedlings have grown to about 3-4 inches tall and have a few sets of true leaves, they're ready to be transplanted outdoors. Choose a location with full sun and well-draining soil.

If you live in a warm climate with a long growing season, you can also plant sweet pepper seeds directly in the garden after the danger of frost has passed. Plant the seeds about 1/4 inch deep in well-draining soil in a sunny location. Thin the seedlings to about 18-24 inches apart once they start to grow.
