- Annual cereal grain that establishes quickly
- Frost tolerant and suitable for early spring or fall planting
- Can be grown for up to two crops per year in many regions
- Competes well with weeds when planted densely
Why Customers Choose Bulk Barley Seeds:
- Excellent green manure and cover crop for improving soil structure
- Performs well across a wide range of climates
- Can be interplanted with legumes to boost soil fertility
- Stores well for long-term use
- Available in bulk for large plantings and repeat sowings
How to Use and Grow:
Whole, unhulled barley can be planted directly in prepared soil for use as a cover crop or grain harvest. For soil improvement, allow plants to grow and incorporate them as green manure before seed set. Barley can also be grown for animal feed, chicken fodder, or cat grass. Seeds may be sprouted for food, used for malting, grown as barley grass for juicing, or harvested and processed as an edible cereal grain or flour.
