In general, mustard is a cool-season crop that grows best in temperatures between 60-70°F. You can start your seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before your last frost date, or sow them directly in the garden 2-4 weeks before your last frost date.
Mustard prefers well-draining soil that is rich in organic matter.
Plant the seeds 1/2 inch deep and 2-3 inches apart. You can thin them later when they grow to about 4-6 inches in height.
Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged.
Harvest the mustard greens when they are young and tender, usually about 4-6 weeks after planting. You can either harvest the entire plant or pick individual leaves as needed.
