LEARN SURVIVAL GARDENING

Planting Instructions, Calendars & How To Guides

The month of June isn’t too late to start growing some vegetables. If you live in USDA Hardiness Zones 3 to 8, June is a fine time to plant these vegetables in your survival garden. In hardiness zones 9 and above, many vegetables like beans, melons, and summer squash will like the extended growing season.
This quick-growing plant is fairly easy to grow once the soil warms up, and will provide a reliable yield of vegetables through the hottest part of the year when other plants are struggling. As a member of the mallow and hibiscus family, okra produces lovely flowers, too. If you’ve never grown it, it’s worth trying at least once.
Father’s Day is a chance to celebrate the great Dads out there, and many of us have some cherished memories of our Dads in the garden. So often, it was a Father who inspired our love of nature and taught us the magic of nurturing plants from seed to harvest.
